***WARNING: Longest Post Ever!***
I just got back from the Digital Scrapbook Memories Retreat weekend in Park City. What an awesome event! April worked so hard and did such a great job putting it together. I don't know exactly how many were in attendance, but I think there were around 70 in the Intermediate/Advanced group, and about 30-35 in the Beginner group. I had a chance to teach one class (to both groups) and to help out answering questions, mostly in the Beginner group. It was so much fun to be surrounded by people who all love this hobby, and to meet such fun new people.
For my class I just focused on sharing some of my ideas for designing layouts, and I used lots of visual examples. I created a bunch of layouts specifically for this class to illustrate my points. Everything used in these layouts is from Digital Scrapbook Memories CDs or downloadable kits, and of course I've added more specific credits next to each layout.
{everything from "Little Boy" kit on the "Oh Boy" CD; "Rub This!" font}
{papers and alpha from "Aspire" kit; buttons from "Playful" kit on the "Moods" CD; shoestrings from "Good Sport" kit on the "Oh Boy" CD; "Pea Hannah Vanilla" and "Times New Roman" fonts}
{everything from "Teen" kit from the "Family Ties" CD; "Pea Lacy" font}
{everything from "Rainbows" kit on the "Enjoy the Journey" CD; "Century Gothic" font}

{papers, stitching, frame, and embellishments from "Benjamin's Slide" kit on the "Playground" CD; alpha from "Teen" kit on the "Family Ties" CD; "Teletype" font}
{papers and stars from "Aspire" kit; notebook alpha from "Teen" kit on the "Family Ties" CD; "1942 Report" font}
{everything from the "Flower Patch" beginner CD; "Clementine Sketch" and "Slab Tall X" fonts}

{everything from the "Rough Stuff" kit on the "Oh Boy" CD; "Carbonated Gothic" font}

These two layouts I also made but didn't end up using as examples in my class. But I wanted to add them here since I haven't posted them on the blog yet:
In fact, this layout is about the retreat last year.
{everything from "Clear Day" kit on the "Enjoy the Journey" CD; "Pea Hannah Chocolate Swirls" font}
{background paper and notebook paper from "Teen" kit on the "Family Ties" CD; frame w/ ribbon from "Easter Hoppiness" kit; "Pea Times New Camelion" and "Hotel Coral Essex" fonts}
I also used a lot of my older layouts for examples of design ideas for my class. These have been posted here on the blog before, but I'm adding them again for those who wanted to see all of the layouts I used in my class together in one big post.

I won't go into all the comments I had for each of these layouts, but if you are interested in some of the ideas I shared you can find a link to my notes here: Retreat Class Notes. (If you were at the retreat this document is on the class CD.) Thanks to everyone who made this weekend so much fun!

Just In Time For Earth Day...
I love this adorable new kit from SuzyQ Scraps and Amanda Heimann:
I love the Earth Day/conservation theme, and it's perfect for all kinds of spring/summer/outdoor layouts. I created this page:

Freebie Alert!
I know Heather because we are on a couple of the same creative teams. Not only is she an awesome scrapper, but she has just designed her first kit, "Daisy Doodles", which she is giving away for free on her blog. Just look at this cute layout I made with it:
{everything from "Daisy Doodles" freebie kit by HD Creations; "Pea Times New Camileon" font}
I love the spring colors - so perfect for this photo of my boys in their Sunday best - and all the little doodles are adorable. Go pick it up, and don't forget to leave her some love!

Coming Soon!
As I was looking at my calendar yesterday, I was reminded that the Digital Scrapbook retreat is less than two weeks away! I am so excited for this. I went last year and it was so much fun. Great classes, awesome teachers, and so many fun scrapbookers to hang out with. Plus you can't beat a weekend away in a nice hotel. I'm really looking forward to this year because in addition to all that I get to teach a fun class on layout design! Are you coming? Spots are still available if you want to sign up! Meeting Brookley
I love these pictures. My boys recently met their little cousin and it was so sweet to watch them with her. This is good training since they will be getting a little sister of their own this summer!

Disneyland Album
This weekend I had some good scrapbooking time and I decided to use it to work on my Disneyland album. We took this trip last October, but I've only done a couple of layouts since then. I really want to get this finished up so I can make it into a hardbound book. Hopefully I can stick with it and get it done soon.
I made the album cover a few months ago using the "Journey 365 Jumbo" kit by SuzyQ Scraps, so I decided that I'd just continue using that kit so that the whole album will be cohesive. It's a great kit because it has a huge variety of colors and elements. I've also used some of SuzyQ's "Stitch Hiccups" packs.
{papers & elements from "Journey 365 Jumbo" kit by SuzyQ Scraps; "Jailbird Jenna" and "Teletype" fonts}
{papers and elements from "Journey 365 Jumbo" kit by SuzyQ Scraps; "Another Typewriter" font}
{stitching from "Stitch Hiccups #2" by SuzyQ Scraps; papers and elements from "Journey 365 Jumbo" kit by SuzyQ Scraps; "Phoenix Script" and "Another Typewriter" fonts}
I also decided to re-do this Teacups layout to make it more simple and match the rest of the layouts a little bit better:
{alpha from "Tag! You're {Pastel} Alpha"; stitching from "Stitch Hiccups #2"; papers and elements from "Journey 365 Jumbo" kit - all by SuzyQ Scraps; "Another Typewriter" font}
