Zoo Layout

Inspired by the most recent post on my family blog, I created this layout. With the pictures already edited and journaling done, this was a breeze!

Spring is {finally} HERE!

How ironic... as I type this, huge white flakes are falling from the sky. All I can say is THEY BETTER NOT STAY!

So anyway, I have been unable to move supplies from my desktop to my laptop (long story - ugh) but I have still been itching to scrapbook. I do have lots of stuff I can use on my Digital Scrapbook Memories CDs... but for my latest layout I just opted for some photos and text. Easy and quick!

For this layout, I used the eyedropper tool to select areas from my photos such as the grass, sky, pink blossoms and popsicle to pick the colors for my text.

Also... I won this weeks' digi dare! Yeah! You can see the layout here.

Record Time!

{papers and elements from "Fairies and Toadstools" by Lisa Warren; "Pass the Chex", "Pea Times New Camelion", and "Pea Olson" fonts}

I just scrapped this layout - from start to finish, plus saving in three formats - in under 30 minutes! That has to be my personal best, LOL. No, I wasn't actually going for a record or anything... here's what happened: I just got a new laptop. I haven't gotten around to moving all my files - pictures, scrapbooking stuff - so all I have on here are the pictures I've taken in the last week and two scrapbooking kits. Having it all narrowed down made it so easy! Also, because I had so little to choose from I scrapped a memory I might not have otherwise, and used supplies I probably wouldn't have normally chosen. But I love how it turned out!

So, my two cents: if you are stuck and aren't sure what to scrapbook... narrow it down! Randomly pick a folder of pictures or a favorite little memory and just do it. Or limit your options of what to scrapbook with. There are so many cute products out there it can be overwhelming! I know many people want to scrapbook but feel like they are so far behind and don't know where to begin. So, if you are feeling stuck, maybe narrowing your options can help! Better to have something done, than nothing at all. ;)

Happy Hybrid

The other day I was thinking I wanted to add a little spring decor to spruce up my house... and I immediately thought of my digital scrapbooking supplies! Some of the stuff out there is so stinkin' cute, it really should be framed and put on a wall ;) So I had two 5x7 frames sitting around, and here is what I created...

Unfortunately... my printer did the first one beautifully, but would not cooperate and for the second print and I finally gave up, and haven't tried since. (And of course if I really wanted I could take it to a photo lab as well.) But I popped the one that did work in a frame, and there you go! I think it's cute.

So now I wish I would have just put "happy spring" on this one, but oh well. Now it will work no matter what season it is. Oh, and if you recognize those little birdies - they're in my blog header, too... one of my favorites!

Inspiration + Freebie + Giveaway = Layout

I was visiting the Simple Scrapper (which I highly recommend, really you should click), when I saw this post. It had some great tips for improving your journaling, AND a free kit... plus the chance to win a spot in Audrey Neal's {defining you} journaling class! Pretty sweet deal I'd say. Here's what I came up with:

Aside from that post, there are lots of great things to be found at the Simple Scrapper... it's updated daily. Go check it out!

DSM Girls Night

On Saturday I was able to go to a very fun digital scrapbooking girls night/open house put on by Digital Scrapbook Memories. I realize I probably should have blogged about this before the event, so that maybe someone reading this could have actually heard about it and attended... but oh well. It was so fun to see three of my sisters, and to finally meet some of the ladies I'm always chatting with on the forum, plus some new faces as well. I actually got to help out by teaching some fun tips and tricks I like to use on my layouts. Everything I taught was pretty easy, not necessarily for beginners but nothing too advanced either. For example:

I taught an easy way to add a white border to your picture (stroke), how to add paper clips so they look realistic, how I customized the stitching on this layout, and how make your title look like it was cut out of paper.

I also taught:

How to make rounded corners, and how to make your text curve around a circle if you are using Photoshop Elements.

Anyway, I thought if anyone was interested in learning any of these techniques I could post some of these as tutorials here on my blog. If you are interested, leave me a comment and let me know what you would like to see!

On a Roll

Kelley's on a roll... she just released "Whisper":

I made this layout:

About the only time I wish I had a little girl is when I have these cute-sy, flowery, pink kits to scrapbook with! Maybe someday...
