Stuff to Check Out

1. Angie of Down This Road Designs is offering this super cute Groundhog Day freebie on her blog:

(Click here to hop on over there.) I am so excited because we are actually celebrating this year, and this kit will be perfect! I am making a "Groundhog meatloaf" for dinner on Tuesday - I had a roommate in college who always did that, and I think my kids will love it. I just hope he sees his shadow... or is it better if he doesn't? Hmm, I'm not exactly sure. But in addition to the kit she's also offering some hybrid goodies - treat toppers and candy bar wrappers using this kit.

2. Also, speaking of Down This Road Designs - Angie is moving to a new shop. Her grand opening at Brownie Scraps starts tomorrow! Check her blog for more details.

3. And speaking of new shops... Kelley Mickus is now offering goodies at the brand-new Mscraps.com. There are some amazingly beautiful products over there, and Kelley fits right in. She will still be offering things at The Digi Chick, but everything at Mscraps will be exclusive to that shop. I'm hoping to be back with some layouts featuring her new kits very soon.

4. Last but not least: new year, new header. Time for a new look - nothin' fancy though!

Next I have to get cracking on this year, January is all but over. I'm still not exactly sure how I'll approach my 2010 album, only that it will be a lot simpler than my approach for this year. More focus on just the photos and words. If you want to see all my 2009 layouts together you can go here.

It's a good thing I posted my goal here on my blog, I don't think I'd be keeping up otherwise! Just a few days and one more to go...

October 2009

Only two more months to go, and I'll be done with my 2009 "Ordinary Life" album. I love these layouts, but I'm not sure I'll make them as elaborate for 2010, maybe just a simple white background with photos and words. I'm still trying to decide exactly how I want to do it, but I definitely will because these are always my most favorite layouts.

Cocoa & Brothers

For this first layout, I used a kit called "Cozy Comforts" by Down This Road Designs. I met Angie, the designer for DTRD, at the Digital Scrapbook Memories forum a while ago. I had no idea she was designing digital scrapbooking products until she contacted me about being part of her creative team. I was surprised and excited - she creates really fun stuff. You can find her designs at Scrapable.

This next layout was done using "Love Monsters" by SuzyQ Scraps. Definitely not your usual Valentine's kit, but so much fun!

*sigh* I sure wish I was more motivated. or faster at getting these pages done. I set a new goal today to have all of my monthly 2009 layouts done by the end of this month. Crossing my fingers!

Recent CT Layouts + Project 365

Here are two of my most recent layouts, made using Creative Team products. This first one is using a Mega kit from SuzyQ Scraps titled "Journey 365 Jumbo". This kit is huge and super versatile - lots of very generic papers and elements in every color so you could use it for any type of layout. I decided I'll probably do my entire Disney album using this kit. Here's my first page:

{papers and elements from "Journey 365 Jumbo" SuzyQ Scraps; stitching from "Stitch Hiccups #1" by SuzyQ Scraps; "Walter" and "Typewriter" fonts}

And this one is using a couple of new paper packs by Kelley Mickus. These packs are so fun and bright, and also really versatile. They are also created to be used for Project 365 - a lot of designers are taking part in this scrapbooking craze, creating products just for it. FYI, in case you are wondering, Project 365 involves taking a photo each day of the year, and, for scrapbookers, including them in layouts. I myself am not doing it, but that's fine because kits like these are great for scrapbooking anything and everything.

{papers from "Studio 365 Color Me Happy Solids" and "Studio 365 Color Me Happy Patterns Vol. 1" by Kelley Mickus; glitter and green button from "Fairy Tale Ending" by Kelley Mickus; orange button and red string from "Click." by Kelley Mickus; "Clementine Sketch" and "Lauren Script" fonts}

Are you doing Project 365? Or something similar like Project 52, or 12? I love the idea of this, because I'm all about recording the everyday moments. I'm just not great at sticking to an everyday schedule, and I like creating layouts with a little more flexibility. I love seeing what others create using this system though!

Happy New Year!

Wow, I can't believe it's been over a month since I've updated this blog! December was a crazy month. Along with all the holiday activities, I also recently found out I am pregnant - which I am very excited about - but it has left me with very little energy and motivation. So needless to say I haven't done any scrapbooking for a while. Anyway, I'm back now, and while I'm still not feeling too wonderful, I've got a little more mojo lately. So, happy 2010! Here's to making great memories and documenting them. :) Happy Scrapping!
