Love/Hate the Snow!

It has been snowing here all day! Perfect for staying in and scrapbooking. :) I took these photos of my boys last month when we had our first snow of the season... Zach loved it and Miles hated it, so I made them each a layout using the new "Snow Peeps" kit by SuzyQ and Amanda Heimann.

Christmas Stockings

Here's the advent I made, and I finally put those numbers I made to good use:

I got the idea from the Martha Stewart site. I was actually looking for stocking ideas because I don't really like the ones we have now, but when I saw this I thought it was such a cute idea. I found 12 pairs of socks in various Christmas colors, strung them up and taped the cutout numbers on. I put little treats in each one and every day the kids get to have one. They love it!

I used SuzyQ's new "Heavenly Peace" kit and the "Heavenly Peace Add-On" for this layout. How cute are those little nativity animals?

Fall Leaves

I started this layout a week or so ago for the dare at The Digi Dares... but I missed the deadline. Oh well, I'm glad I finally got it done, and I was really happy how it turned out. I love participating in the dares because it always gets me thinking "outside the box", so to speak.

Christmas Countdown Freebie

Holy cow, I can't believe it's December. Seriously, I think November went by faster than any month this year! I'm certainly not ready for Christmas yet, but I'm working on it. The other day I got the great idea to make some numbers for a countdown I'm making... I thought they turned out kinda cute so I'm sharing them here. Here's what they look like:

I just printed them on cardstock and cut them out using a scallop circle punch. Unfortunately that's as far as I've gotten - like I said, I'm not really ready for December to be here yet! - but as soon as I get my whole project finished I'll be back to share photos.

You could also just use the files on digital layouts. They can easily be recolored in photoshop to match your specific project. I've included the individual .png files, as well as an 8.5x11 sheet that makes it easy to print.

Go here to download your own set of Christmas countdown numbers.
And please leave a comment if you download - thanks!

August

It's coming right along... the best part about doing this is just sorting through the photos and remembering all the little & fun memories. :)

I'm a QT!

Just for fun, I applied for another creative team - and I got it! I am now creating layouts for SuzyQ Scraps, so it's likely you'll be seeing her designs quite a bit here. (Her creative team is called the QT's, thus the title.) I've had fun creating these layouts so far:

July

This was a fun month to scrapbook... I chose a really bright and fun kit that reflects all the fun summer things we did. I'm more than halfway!

Digital Scrapbook Retreat 2010

This is super-duper exciting!!

Digital Scrapbook Retreat
Newpark Hotel Park City, Utah
April 22-24, 2010

First off, the location is fabulous - we're talking luxury. But more importantly, the classes will be awesome! There is something for everyone. This year there are two different "tracks" of classes being offered, a beginners track and an intermediate/advanced track. I am teaching a class on layout design for both of these groups. Another cool thing that is being offered are bonus classes on Photoshop CS (the full version of Photoshop) and Illustrator (another Adobe design program). These are both programs I've been interested in learning. You can see the entire class list here and purchase packages here.

And... if you would like to WIN a retreat class package, just go to the DSM forum here to find out how! Good luck!

Project 30 Album

Have you heard of Project 365? Where you take a photo every day for the whole year? Well, I wasn't feeling that ambitious, but I did join April and the girls who hang out at DSM in what we called "Project 30" - taking a photo a day for the month of September. I decided to make an album with all of my pictures, here are just a few of the pages:

{papers and elements from "Click." by Kelley Mickus; "Teletype" and "Pea Hannah Vanilla" fonts}

To keep it cohesive, I kept the design, fonts, etc. the same throughout and chose one kit to work with. I used "Click." by Kelley Mickus because I love the colors and the theme of the kit was perfect for this. I created these layouts at 5x5 inches and just ordered the photobook today. Can't wait to find it in my mailbox! Hooray for capturing the everyday moments.

Christmas is Coming!

I was reminded of this when I saw Kelley's new "grabbag" kit, coming Thursday to The Digi Chick:

This is such a fun kit - isn't that button tree the cutest thing you've ever seen? I dug up some old pictures from 2007 for this:

I have been doing lots of scrapping lately but haven't posted much because it's TOP SECRET. Haha, ok not really, but I am working on something fun for Digital Scrapbook Memories, I'll post more later. Have a great day!

Recent Layouts + Quick Tip

It's been a while! My computer has been out of commission with a virus, my family and I had a nice week-long vacation, and then came home and hosted visitors, so... I haven't done a whole lot of scrapbooking lately. However, being a part of Kelley's creative team always keeps me going, at least somewhat ;) Her latest kits have been a lot of fun to create with.

This layout was done with her "Happiness" kit, which you can only get with a gold membership at DigiShopTalk.

{everything from "Happiness" by Kelley Mickus; Pea Hannah Vanilla font}

This one was done with her latest release (new today in the shop at The Digi Chick) called "Family." It's a collab kit with Danielle Young.

{everything from "Family" by Kelley Mickus and Danielle Young; "Ecolier Court" font}

This one was done with "Beginnings". It was released a few weeks ago, but I didn't get a chance to do anything with it until now. I love Kelley's stuff!

{everything from "Begininngs" by Kelley Mickus; "Quicksand" and "Paulhino Pedra Azul" fonts}

Here's a handy tip, courtesy of April at Digital Scrapbook Memories: you don't have reinvent the wheel every time you create a layout. Just copy one of your old favorites! In fact, if you save your .psd files, it's really easy to just open one up and use clipping masks to clip new photos and papers over the originals. I did this with the "goodbye summer" layout using this old "let it snow" layout as my guide. Quick and easy!

As you can tell, I did change it up just a bit, but that's the beauty of using a layered .psd file: it's super easy to move things around so it fits your specific needs. Try it sometime!
