Outside My Box, Summer Memories, and a Sneak Peek

I've never fancied myself an art journaler, but I must say I love seeing art journaling pages in the galleries around digi-land. There is so much freedom and creativity, I can totally see how it would be a cathartic way to deal with life's emotions... I just don't have much extra time to play in that way and I can't give up my traditional scrapbooking. That said, I did have a chance to play with some art journal-y type products from Captivated Visions for My Scrapbook Art this month.  This isn't necessarily a true art journal page, but it was fun to do something outside of my normal box.

This simple summer layout was inspired by one of the Ultimate Vacation challenges going on over at The Lilypad. A fun and easy way to round up lots of summer memories!

The last layout I have to share tonight is a sneak peek of a product coming out from Celeste Knight at Pixels and Company on Friday. I got to play with it early because Celeste was the Featured Designer at Digi Night Out last Saturday (so fun!) and this was the free kit we got to play with.

My Girl

Well, I was cropped. Sad face :(  Actually, it's all good, I had a lot of fun with the challenges and I am a little relieved that I don't have to scrap under pressure anymore! It'll be fun to watch from the sidelines.  There is a lot of impressive talent and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I do have one page to share really quick, using a bunch of goodies from Gennifer Bursett:

Cropped: Round 3

Happy to report I have not yet been cropped - I made it to round three! You can see the mystery basket ingredients we had to work with, and the challenge was to create some kind of contrast on your layout.  So here is what I came up with... crossing my fingers! The competition is getting tough!  You can also check out all the layouts in the Cropped Gallery.

Hello... is anyone out there?

I'm back! Now let's see if I can remember how to do this...

I took a little break from blogging as things got hectic last year between keeping up with Project Life, my regular scrapbooking, Digi Night Out, and that other stuff called REAL LIFE. :) But... I haven't done Project Life this year (but oh! I wish I was! It was just too time consuming for me), and I recently handed the reigns of Digi Night Out to someone else so... I am back to blogging! Even if it is just to post my most recent pages.

At the beginning of the month I entered the Cropped competition over at Pixels and Company. It's been a lot of fun! We've had two challenges so far, and luckily I didn't get cropped in the first round - we'll see what happens in round 2 later this week.  Here is my week one entry:

created with Cropped Round 1 Mystery Basket ingredients;
Scarlett Letter papers by Gennifer Bursett and Mommyish;
staple from Made of Awesome by Gennifer Bursett;
label from Endless Summer kit by Gennifer Bursett and Robyn Meierotto;
Quaver Sans font
And here is my entry for week 2:

created with Round 2 Mystery Basket Ingredients;
Quilting Bee V1 papers by Robyn Meierotto;
Simple Stitches 2 by Karen Funk;
blue stamp and sequins from More or Less Collab by P&Co designers;
label from Personally by Dawn by Design;
1942 Report font
It's been so fun to participate, and to see so many layouts that contain the same "ingredients" and follow some of the same rules, and yet they are all so unique.

I have one other layout to share - this on I made for My Scrapbook Art to show off some designs by the fabulous Kaye Winiecki:

created with
Homerun kit by Kaye Winiecki;
Stax On: Chevron by Kaye Winiecki

And that's it for now! I'll be back soon with more scrappy goodness. It's nice to be back!

Two Months of Layouts

October is here and it's officially fall!  I love this time of year. :)  I'm really enjoying scrapping a lot these days. I rely mainly on my responsibilities as part of the team at My Scrapbook Art, the Digi Night Out events I organize, and the challenges at The Lilypad to stay on track with my memory keeping.

Here's a look at what I created in August and September.

I'm really enjoying creating and blogging for My Scrapbook Art.  I get the opportunity to work with lots of different designers' stuff, the chance to scrap using various different challenges, and even have some of them appear in the Home Is Where The Art Is magazine. This was created with August's free kit from the Home Is Where The Art Is magazine, and entered into that month's challenge.
