***WARNING: Longest Post Ever!***
I just got back from the Digital Scrapbook Memories Retreat weekend in Park City. What an awesome event! April worked so hard and did such a great job putting it together. I don't know exactly how many were in attendance, but I think there were around 70 in the Intermediate/Advanced group, and about 30-35 in the Beginner group. I had a chance to teach one class (to both groups) and to help out answering questions, mostly in the Beginner group. It was so much fun to be surrounded by people who all love this hobby, and to meet such fun new people.
For my class I just focused on sharing some of my ideas for designing layouts, and I used lots of visual examples. I created a bunch of layouts specifically for this class to illustrate my points. Everything used in these layouts is from Digital Scrapbook Memories CDs or downloadable kits, and of course I've added more specific credits next to each layout.
{everything from "Little Boy" kit on the "Oh Boy" CD; "Rub This!" font}
{papers and alpha from "Aspire" kit; buttons from "Playful" kit on the "Moods" CD; shoestrings from "Good Sport" kit on the "Oh Boy" CD; "Pea Hannah Vanilla" and "Times New Roman" fonts}

{papers, stitching, frame, and embellishments from "Benjamin's Slide" kit on the "Playground" CD; alpha from "Teen" kit on the "Family Ties" CD; "Teletype" font}

These two layouts I also made but didn't end up using as examples in my class. But I wanted to add them here since I haven't posted them on the blog yet:
In fact, this layout is about the retreat last year.

I also used a lot of my older layouts for examples of design ideas for my class. These have been posted here on the blog before, but I'm adding them again for those who wanted to see all of the layouts I used in my class together in one big post.

I won't go into all the comments I had for each of these layouts, but if you are interested in some of the ideas I shared you can find a link to my notes here: Retreat Class Notes. (If you were at the retreat this document is on the class CD.) Thanks to everyone who made this weekend so much fun!

Lynette,
I was at the retreat and honestly I learned more from your class than any other. Thanks so much! I loved the fonts you used and was going to email you and ask about them. Thanks for posting that information.
Michele
Your class was great. I really learned a lot from you! It's obvious why your layouts are so good based on what you taught.
I loved you class also and learned so much about layout design. Your layouts are always amazing and inspiring!! It was really great to meet you in person too.
I really enjoyed your class. Can't wait to put what I learned into action.
Loved, loved, loved your class. I learned SOOOO much and am now going into pages I haven't printed yet and "tweaking" them a bit. just adding a border adds SO much, the white space and love the grid...great class, great ideas--my FAVORITE class. Love your pages, too.
Your class was awesome! Thanks for all the notes too. I don't know how you continue to come up with such awesome pages that are all so different.
That's awesome! I LOVE your pages! You have some of my favs in there, and some I've lifted! Hehe! That oreo one is one of my all time favs! I have a lifted copy called "the whatever face" which is my boy scowling for all the pics! Haha! I bet your class was awesome!
